how would i solve these answers? can you show how you solved these 2 answers? please don't just give me the answer.
1) If a 20ft flagpole casts a 4ft long shadow then how tall is a woman that casts a 1ft shadow?
2) A model house has a scale of 5in:9yd. If the model house is 10 in wide then how wide is the real house?
3) A model house has a scale of 5cm: 3m. If the model house is 30cm tall then how tall is the real house?
4) a map has a scale of 3cm:23km. if Brisbane and Santa Cruz are 69km apart then they are how far apart on the map?

1) 20/4=5 so x/1 = 5 , x = 5, the women is 5 ft tall
2) 5 x 2 = 10, so you multiply 9yds by 2 and get 18yds wide.
3) 5 x 6 = 30, so multiply 3m by 6 and get 18m tall
4) 23 x 3 = 69, so multiply 3 by 3 and get 9cm away on the map.

How can I indirectly measure a flagpole?
My math assignment is to measure a real flagpole in front of my school using four methods, not one of them being to take a tape measure and directly measure it.
I've already got two methods of measuring, but they were instructed to us. I made a hypsometer and a stadioscope with common household materials. The next two methods have to be thought up, they are not told to us.
Basically, I'm supposed to use similar triangles to find the height. Approximate height is okay, too.
I'm in Geometry and we're doing Trigonometry at the moment.
