What is machinery?
A device that applies force, changes the direction of a force, or changes the strength of a force, in order to perform a task, generally involving work done on a load. They are often designed to yield a high mechanical advantage to reduce the effort needed to do that work.
Overview:
Machineries are the tools can be powered from a variety of sources. Human and animal powers are options, as is energy captured through the use of waterwheels. However, modern machine tools began to develop only after the development of the steam engine, which led to the Industrial Revolution. Today, most machine tools are powered by electricity.
Machine tools can be operated manually, or under automatic control. Early machines used flywheels to stabilize their motion and had complex systems of gears and levers to control the machine and the piece being worked on. Soon after World War II, the numerical control (NC) machine was developed. NC machines used a series of numbers punched on paper tape or punched cards to control their motion. In the 1960s, computers were added to give even more flexibility to the process. Such machines became known as computerized numerical control (CNC) machines. NC and CNC machines could precisely repeat sequences over and over, and could produce much more complex pieces than even the most skilled tool operators.
Before long, the machines could automatically change the specific cutting and shaping tools that were being used. For example, a drill machine might contain a magazine with a variety of drill bits for producing holes of various sizes. Previously, either machine operators would usually have to manually change the bit or move the work piece to another station to perform these different operations. The next logical step was to combine several different machine tools together, all under computer control. These are known as machining centers, and have dramatically changed the way parts are made.
From the simplest to the most complex, most machine tools are capable of at least partial self-replication, and produce machine parts as their primary function.
Need of Machineries:
Machineries are the devices that aid man in the performance of work. Machines use energy to multiply a force, change the direction of a force, transform or transfer energy, or multiply speed. For example, a car jack is a machine that multiplies force exerted on its handle so that a relatively small force can lift a car off the ground. For instance, a force of about 50 N exerted on the jack handle produces a force of about 2 000 N on the car. Notice that the jack handle moves through a greater distance than the automobile.
Machineries may also used to change the direction of a force. A single pulley at the top of a flagpole enables one end of the rope to exert an upward force on the flag as a downward force is exerted on the other end. Another use of a machine is to transform energy. A generator transforms mechanical energy into electrical energy. A steam turbine transforms heat energy into mechanical energy. We use machines to transfer energy from one place to another. The connecting rods, crankshafts, and axles transfer energy from the cylinders in the combustions engine of a car to the tires. We also use machines to multiply speed. A bicycle is also a machine that gains speed by exerting a greater force on it. No machine can be used to gain both force and speed at the same time.

Church of Scientology's Boy Scout Troop 313 Celebrates Newest Eagle Scout – Winston McDaniel
CLEARWATER: Boy Scout Troop 313, chartered to the Church of Scientology, Flag Service Organization, is proud to announce that Winston McDaniel was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.
This caps a 12-year journey for McDaniel, who joined Cub Scout Pack 313 when he was only 6.
"I always saw being an Eagle Scout as something only a handful of people could say they were," says McDaniel. "I started in Tiger Cubs (the earliest you can start) and I just HAD to finish it. I wanted to achieve that respected rank of Eagle Scout."
While a Cub Scout, McDaniel received a special mention from pack leaders for completing all 21 of the Merit Badges that are available to Cubs – learning skills such as basic forestry, fitness, geology, communication and being a good family member.
After graduating into the Boy Scouts, McDaniel was an active Scout, holding various levels of responsibility including his service one year as Senior Patrol Leader, and earning 23 more merit badges including the 12 that are required for Eagle.
The required badges include Environmental Science, First Aid and Camping, which McDaniel definitely enjoyed.
"I mean, what guy doesn't enjoy going camping, swimming, learning how to make fires, eating good food that you yourself cooked?" he said. "I would take that over staying indoors 10 times outa 10."
To be awarded each badge, McDaniel had to complete a full checklist of practical assignments to show that he had learned each skill. In the case of the First Aid badge, the Scout must put together their own first aid kit, be able to recognize and treat a person who is experiencing shock or heart attack, know when to use CPR, and many other similar skills.
Every Eagle Scout must complete a project that specifically benefits some part of the community, like a church or a school. The Scout must raise the funds for the project and recruit and direct volunteers to get it done.
In McDaniel's case, he wanted to help his school, Delphi Oregon. They had a major problem on the school baseball field in that the pitching mound flooded when it rained. And it rains often in Oregon.
McDaniel found the technology to install a special drain system that eliminated the flooding. The project cost about $650 in materials. He enlisted the help of about a dozen of his schoolmates and they worked most of Super Bowl weekend to properly install the drain system. It was a complete success – the pitchers do not have to splash in a pool of water in order to practice.
In the final steps to being awarded Eagle Scout, A very hefty book of McDaniel's accomplishments was submitted and reviewed by 3 levels of Scout hierarchy before McDaniel received the acknowledgement that he had in fact made it to the rank of Eagle Scout. McDaniel became an Eagle Scout on April 11, 2011 and in late May 2011, Winston received his Eagle Badge and Eagle Scout pins for his father and his Mother.
"In how hard it is to get jobs these days, having "Eagle Scout" on my resume' not only shows a status, but also shows I can get something done, which I know will help me in the future," added McDaniel.
McDaniel follows in the footsteps of many famous Americans who have also earned this rank, including Scientology's founder, L. Ron Hubbard.
"Of all of the various information which became important to me," wrote Hubbard, "such as photography, wood lore, signaling and many other subjects, the basis of it was laid in Scouting."
Hubbard credited the skills he learned in Scouting to helping him survive his military duties in World War II.

A Safety Whip Will Protect and Serve
A durable, flexible safety whip can provide you with confidence when on the job or at play. A safety whip is basically a tall pole that mounts onto a truck, ATV or other work vehicle that helps identify a vehicle. It usually has some type of flag at the top and is occasionally lighted for early dawn and evening work and even used in darker warehouses and factories.
Variations of safety whips
As with many consumer and industrial products today, safety whips come with a variety of choices. The height, color and attachment to the vehicle base are all options to look for. In addition, flag choices for the top of the whip are very diverse – from standard safety flags to colorful and fun alternatives.
One of the first selections you'll make will be the height of the safety whip. For smaller uses they come as short at 3 feet, all the way up to 12 feet, and with extensions available. This makes sure that no matter where you attach the whip, whether the bumper or the top of a tail gate on a truck, you can have visibility. Whips can come in multiple colors too. While white or silver is the most common, you can practically pick your own color when you shop online. Why, there are even neon whips that are lit for incredible visibility.
Attaching the Safety Whip
Once you've chosen your whip, you can look for the attachment features. Most require a mounting hole if there's not a place to insert the bracket, lock washer and jam nut. You can attach the whip with a hot plug with or without a hot wire pigtail, or with a spring mount for lighted or unlighted feature.
Magnetic mount bases are available for the 3 to 5 foot whips, but it's cautioned that they are used only for temporary use. The magnetic mounts have the capacity for lighting as well. You can also attach your safety whip with an ultra heavy duty spring mount, providing firm vertical support when a vehicle is traveling at high speeds.
Heavy Duty Safety Whip
For heavy duty, off-road use of a Safety Whip, other important elements are available, such as billet fold down clamp mount and billet fold down tab mount brackets. You'll want high quality in the power cable, so be sure to research that the cable is continuous. This will protect against pinched wires, hot plug power connections and multiple shoulder joints – all of which can cause failure due to corrosion. The quality of the cable is important too, and you'll want it to be made of a high grade, thermoplastic elastomer that withstands a wide range of temperatures, from below freezing to over 100 degrees. These specialty extra hardy whips can often be ordered to your specifications.
Working or not, when you're off-road it's a good idea to be seen, so equip yourself with a safety whip on your all-terrain vehicle or truck.
