Question: were the slaves "set loose" by Lincoln or ...... was there more?
no the Emanicipation did not actually free the slaves, it morally freed them which gave the Union a reason to fight: the freedom of slaves. The Confederacy already had a reason to fight: defend their homes which seemed to call more than freedom of slaves. The actual legislation that freed the slaves was the 13th amendment, and the 14th and 15th set down citizenship rules and gave every man suffrage, respectively. Although these pieces of legislation did as they said, the black man never fully escaped the iron grasp of discrimination. In the South Jim Crow laws were passed which pretty much eradicated the freedoms gained from the Civil War Amendements. The North was not much better as you were still discrimated against. So I would say the black man was not truely free until MLK and the Voting Rights Act and Civil Rights Act, of the 50's and 60's. So yeah here is your history lesson.

How to forget someone?
It's ridiculous. Time doesn't help! It was 25 years ago. I said something stupid to him and I lost him that way. Couldn't forget him though. Then 20 years ago I really decided to forget about him because I realized that our views about life were so different. I thought I had succeded. 15 years ago when I saw him last, I was happy to realize that he seemed so unattractive to me and that we were just extremely different. 6 months ago I saw him again. Can't stop thinking about him since then. It's crazy. I have everything in life to be happy without him. I'm not looking for a romantic relationship with him. I'm married, have two lovely kids. As a modest and decent muslimah, what's the proper behaviour in the swimming pool?
I was looking for a ladies' only swimming pool and couldn't find one, so I went to a mixed one, which is actually fine. The men are hardly looking at me in my bikini and I can swim in peace.
Now I'm considering using the finnish sauna at the pool, which only offers mixed sessions. The other people there are all naked, should I go naked too (as there is a lot of steam and people are almost invisible) or should I wear my bikini to stay modest?

I get really bad sweat marks!?
I get sweat marks in school BAD! i try putting on deodorant then some powder to help it dry. But it doesn't work! i've tried OMG Degree, Tom's all natural, Secret and Mitchum. They don't work! my mom says i have sweat marks because of my hormones changing. ( I have my period) i just want to know some ways to prevent sweat marks and if you had a personal experience tell your story and how you succeeded of failed. oh and also it has gotten so bad that i have to wear white like ALL THE TIME! and still you can see my sweat marks. i want something that is strong but won't clog my lift notes thank you!

I am 14 and have the same problem!!! all the time but then i tried Certain Dri and IT IS AMAZING!!!! I swear by that stuff it will help you SO much ya the packaging looks dated but If you used it reguarly.. it will work i tried it the for the first time and you put it on at night (it works better trust me you'd think it wouldn't and it wouldn't wear off but it doesn't) and the next day you are dry all day it is amazing I LOVE IT!!!!! try it, it wouldn't hurt.

is it bad to wear tampons if your not on your period?
see, my period is irregular so i start wearing tampons about 4 days before the 28 mark. that way i won't leak or have one of those embarrassing moments. please don't say to wear a pad instead.. i hate them. they feel like diapers, and show through my jeans. believe it or not, but it doesnt even hurt to pull them out. odd?
I have mixed opinions about this.
I understand why you'd want to wear a tampon four days before your period and not liking pads because I believe they feel like diapers as well. I also have an irregular period too but I have never worn a tampon while I'm not on my period.
I would advise you against it because if you forget to take out the tampon and wear it for longer than eight hours, you're susceptible to TSS (Toxic Shock Symdrome). In addition, when you're not on your period you lack the moisture; therefore, the tampon leaves cotton threads in your vagina which leaves you at further risk for TSS.
I would recommend checking yourself throughout the day with your finger in the bathroom. Before your period starts, you will have some brown discharge and that'll clue you in to when you're supposed to get your period.
Another option is to use a liner in your underwear. I know you said you don't like pads but these are much thinner and will not show through your jeans. This will also prevent your underwear and jeans from taking serious damage from accidents.
Keep in mind- accidents happen and if you happen to bleed a little it's fine. Nobody will be able to see it or smell it. Just keep tampons on your person, and not in it, and you'll be fine.

I am 17, and suffer from hair loss.What can I do, besides Minoxidil? What has worked for you?
I am 17, and my hair has been falling out for about 4 years. It is getting to the point where it is fairly noticable and I am beginning to panic. My hair was once full, silky and black. Now it has lost its lustre and it has become dull. I have been to Chinese practitioners, applied nettle, drank ginko and ho wu shu tea and am currently trying Saw Palmetto capsules and Ginko tablets (for circulation). I was told by my practitioner not to worry and that is what was making my hair fall out. I know this is true, but there has to be another factor. I am running out of options and don't want to use Rogaine or Minoxidil for the rest of my life. Nor do I want to lose my hair. I am a budding actor, and I understand that there are many bald actors (very successful ones too),but I don't want to lose my hair because it is a part of me. Please, if you know of any thing that can help, do not hesitate to answer. I would forever appreciate it if it could help you. Thank you so much!
There are all kinds of medical remedies available. If you're serious about remedying hair loss, see your doctor. You can also take steps to preserve the hair your have. One easy thing, only comb your hair from roots to ends. Anything else tangles and then pulls out hair in the detangling process. Follow this pattern also when you wash and condition your hair. Also, keep your hair cut short as weight will also increase fallout. Finally, Mane and Tail shampoo seem to help, and some judicious use of hair gel will make the hair you have seem thicker. Finally, don't sweat it. Many ladies find guys attractive with little or no hair.

However, the album's finest achievement is "Gypsy": this heavy metal gem nails the blend of swirling organ riffs, power chords, and leather-lunged vocal harmonies that would define the group's classic tunes and remains a staple of the band's live performances today. Unfortunately, the focus of the album is diluted by some unsuccessful experiments: "Lucy Blues" is a dull, unmemorable stab at a Led Zeppelin-style heavy blues tune and "Come Away Melinda" is an overproduced, melodramatic cover that tries to marry the band's full-throttle musical style to a message song. Despite these occasional moments of stylistic schizophrenia, Very 'Eavy...Very 'Umble is a likable album that shows the promise that Uriah Heep would soon realize. Those unfamiliar with Uriah Heep may want to try out Demons and Wizards or a compilation first, but anyone with a serious interest in Uriah Heep or the roots of heavy metal will find plenty to like on Very 'Eavy...Very 'Umble. Very, Very Powerful Motor $12.78 1990 was a difficult time for Fastbacks; after nearly a decade together, the band had failed to gain a significant audience outside the Pacific Northwest, and Lulu Gargiulo opted to take a sabbatical from the group. Very, Very Powerful Motor, the band's second album, seems to reflect the problems facing the group; while it's tighter, snappier, and rocks a good bit harder than their debut, ... And His Orchestra, it's also one of the group's edgiest, most angst-filled recordings. Alongside such pop-punk gems as "In the Summer" and "Says Who?" are a number of longer tunes where Kurt Bloch leaves himself plenty of space to work out on guitar (like "What to Expect/Dirk's Car Jam" and "Last Night I Had a Dream That I Could Fly"), and lyrically the overall tone of the album is one of anxiety and doubt.
