STANDARDS of RESPECT
The Flag Code, which formalizes and unifies the traditional ways in which we give respect to the flag, also contains specific instructions on how the flag is not to be used. They are:
The flag should never be dipped to any person or thing. It is flown upside down only as a distress signal.
The flag should not be used as a drapery, or for covering a speakers desk, draping a platform, or for any decoration in general. Bunting of blue, white and red stripes is available for these purposes. The blue stripe of the bunting should be on the top.
The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose. It should not be embroidered, printed or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary use. Advertising signs should not be attached to the staff or halyard
The flag should not be used as part of a costume or athletic uniform, except that a flag patch may be used on the uniform of military personnel, fireman, policeman and members of patriotic organizations.
The flag should never have placed on it, or attached to it, any mark, insignia, letter, word, number, figure, or drawing of any kind.
The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.
When the flag is lowered, no part of it should touch the ground or any other object; it should be received by waiting hands and arms. To store the flag it should be folded neatly and ceremoniously.
The flag should be cleaned and mended when necessary.
When a flag is so worn it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country, it should be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner.

Is it OK to say I do not respect the United States of America?
I have no respect or use for this USA. I served but I now say "I'm sorry for what I have done to the world in the name of the USA. I will soon tear up my DD Form 214 on CNN and then spit on the American Flag. Then I will walk away very proud. Of course before I walk away proud I will wipe my feet on the red white and blue. This is my freedom and I'm going to use it. If you are a veteran you can respond to this. If you are not a Veteran then you can not say anything to me. I served 6 years for the right to step on my American flag. ( Note:..My American Flag was made in Communist China and bought at Wal Mart )
You can say any stupid ol' thing you want to, sodomite. It's a free country, until you neo-Dems finally turn it into Amerika SSR.
Please tell me that you will leave the country for good, too. That would make me very happy.

Respect the flag
why is it important to pledge allegiance to a flag?
i never got i, it's a piece of cloth on a pole! to me all it represents is the united states of america, nothing more. why can't we pledge allegiance to God if anything instead of pledging to something that can't do anything for us. i know you patriotic people are gonna say something like " this flag has come with us a long way and it should be respected" but think this through. should we go through so much for something that really means so little? just my opinion
The flag represents the living country as is concidered a living thing. It is not important to pledge it but more just understand and respest the country it represents

7 - American Flag Display Case - Part 1 of 2
ok folks, How many think it should be ILLEGAL to march with or display another countries flag .......?
if you live in NORTH AMERICAN UNITED STATES ??
I am anti illegal criminal alien, but anyone should be able to march under their own flag, as long as it is not geared toward disrespecting this country and our flag is shown proper respect and a place of prominence. Ex) I march in St Patricks Day parades. The Irish flag is all over, but the American flag is prominent and given the most respect. I am celebrating my ancestory while ackowledging my love for america and committment to this country. That idea is lost with this newest wave of blood suckers and takers. They want the best of what my legal immigrant relatives made of this country, but don't want to contribute to its future or be an actual part of it.

Our Pledge of Allegiance is not a prayer nor a pledge to God - it is a pledge of loyalty to America! To Pledge Allegiance is to state your personal commitment to our nation and its traditions and principles of governance.
People from many countries literally give up everything to gain American citizenship and freedom. Meanwhile, some living on our shores--who may not be loyal American citizens since they have refused to pledge Allegiance to the United States under the legislatively-approved Pledge we have used for half a century--are trying to take the best of America away -- our Constitutionally-guaranteed civil rights, freedoms and liberties.
Our Pledge now correctly describes our republic as one nation, under God. It can be clearly shown that our Founding Fathers established America on the premise that freedom comes from God, not the State. Lies enslave but "The Truth Shall Set You Free!"
One more thing--if you refuse to raise and pledge allegiance to America’s flag - or if you burn an American flag - then just what other country ARE you loyal to?

Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
Why do Americans pledge allegiance to the flag and not the US Constitution
I pledge allegiance to the United States Constitution.
The flag represents the Constitution, the original 13 colonies, and our states. But, a better question would be.. Why don't the politicians uphold/obey the Constitution anymore, when they swore to protect it, and defend it? I agree with you, we should pledge allegiance to our document, our flag, and our Founders for the hard work they did to achieve this country, we should return back our principles back from the special interests and politicians that betrayed us, and ignored/violated the Constitution for more power and money. Great question.
Restore this fading republic...
