Is Elizabeth Warren about the best D**n thing ever to happen to America?
A person who wants to tame Wall Street, control the Banks and stop the insane derivatives trading.
How soon before she is offered a multi-million dollar job on K-Street?
She is the best thing that could happen to ALL Americans regardless of party affiliation. She is surely going to butt heads with Timothy Geitnor, Obama's Secretary of Treasury. Geitnor has a long history with Wall Street. He is the former President & Chief Executive of the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City. Believe me, he is no friend to Liz Warren's policies.
So far, Obama has not appointed her to any position. She was chosen by him to oversee the development of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She goes against what Geitnor and Bernanke are all about...trickle down economics. They are Republicans, after all. I think Obama made a big mistake appointing them. Instead of giving all the money to Wall St.,, the big banks and Corparations, in the hopes they would lend it to Americans, as Bernanke has done, has not worked. If they had given the money to main street banks, where small businesses (not corporations) could get their hands on it, has been a failed economic policy.
I voted for Obama, but on this issue, to say I'm disappointed, would be an understatement.

In my opinion & that of millions of people all over the world Mr.Buffett would be the perfect choice as America's Treasury Secretary. His more than half a century of experience in the capital markets & his conservatism would indeed pay America & the world rich dividends in the long term. Dean Baker would make a great US Treasury Secretary. He's smart and has his finger on the pulse of the country.
Dean Baker (b. July 13, 1958) is an American macroeconomist and co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. He previously was a senior economist at the Economic Policy Institute and an assistant professor of economics at Bucknell University. He has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan. His B.A. is from Swarthmore College.
Baker stated, "This is the first time in the history of the United States that the president has sought to provoke a financial panic to get legislation passed through Congress. While this has proven to be a successful political strategy - after the House of Representatives finally passed the bank bail-out plan today - it marks yet another low point in American politics.
It was incredibly irresponsible for George Bush to tell the American people on national television that the country could be facing another Great Depression. By contrast, when we actually were in the Great Depression, President Roosevelt said: "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself."

The triangle with 45 degrees must be an isosceles triangle as 2 angles must be 45 degrees.

Hypotenuse ^2 = a^2 + b^2
Hypotenuse ^2 = 8^2 + 8^2
Hypotenuse^2 = 64 + 64 = 128 metres
Hypotenuse is Sqrt 128 = 11.314metres
Other triangle you have height 8m and all three angles (90, 60,and 30)
Sin 60 = 8 / hyp
8 / 0.866 = hyp
9.238m = hyp
11.314 - 9.238 = 2.1 to nearest tenth

Dickinson is saying that it's not the winners in the world who truly understand what winning means. Rather, it's the losers, the people who don't win but only yearn for victory and witness it from afar.
If she merely said it the way I've just said it, her observation about winning and losing would be a pretty flat, boring statement. Read through the poem and notice all the vivid images she uses to enliven what she's saying.

To fully understand something's worth, you must first understand the pain of going without- like appreciating happiness because you know what sadness is. We savor the pleasure because we've been through pain.
Or, more to the point of this poem, if we never experience the pleasure, we understand the worth of what we've lost- what we've never had- all the better.
So- Not one of those who were on the winning side could tell what that victory means as well as one who lost and lay dying.
