You stand 62 ft from a flagpole. The sun's angle of elevation is 18 degrees. How tall is the flagpole?

the height is opposite the angle so you use the formula

A flagpole is anchored by two pairs of guy wires attached 8m above the ground.
One pair is anchored to the ground at 45 degree angles, the other pair is anchored at 60 degree angles.
Which pair of guy wires has the greater total length and by how much, to the nearest tenth of a meter?

The triangle with 45 degrees must be an isosceles triangle as 2 angles must be 45 degrees.
use Pythagoras
Hypotenuse ^2 = a^2 + b^2
Hypotenuse ^2 = 8^2 + 8^2
Hypotenuse^2 = 64 + 64 = 128 metres
Hypotenuse is Sqrt 128 = 11.314metres
Other triangle you have height 8m and all three angles (90, 60,and 30)
Sin 60 = 8 / hyp
8 / 0.866 = hyp
9.238m = hyp
11.314 - 9.238 = 2.1 to nearest tenth

can you help me on this trig question?
At 3 P.M. the flagpole in front of your school casts a 12-foot shadow. The sun's angle of elevation is 58degrees19'. How tall is the flagpole?
It is 19.44 feet tall.
The only trick to this one is realizing which angle in the triangle is the given angle. Since it is an angle of elevation, it is the angle opposite the flagpole in a diagram of the sun, the flagpole, and the ground.
So, if you take the tangent of this angle, it equals its opposite side (the flagpole) divided by its adjacent side (the ground from flagpole to the end of the shadow). Therefore, the height of the flagpole equals the shadow length times the tangent of the given angle.
That is 19.44 feet.

my question is how do sites like google, facebook, but even more so sites like piratebay or digg make money to stay alive and a profit?
1. Use PHP, and optianally Javascript and flash.
2. Build the website.
3. Adverites a lot! Advertise for $100 or more!
4. Have an advertise option on your page. (First time: AdSense, but later your own: AdSense doesn't give much money).
5. Sell things if you want.
